and another man known as Doctor

were shot dead, at the singers Plymouth
Avenue home at about 20.30 last night

five other persons including radio JBC-dj
Free-I were shot and wounded

according to the P.I.C. three gunmen
travelling on motorcycles

went to Tosh's residence
and demanded money

Tosh and his guests
were shot when they refused

the gunmen escaped.
The police have launched

a top level investigation
into the killing.

I know that Peter had been loved
by everybody apparently

so I didn't believe that anybody
would do that to him

I wasn't looking for him
to die that way

I say maybe you would die in a car
crash, I know that he drive very fast

I wasn't looking for him
to die by a gun shot

Nothing was really firmly established
accept the motive of robbery

Well the youth involved, was in one
incident in which policemen stopped them

he had a weapon on him,

and when they got to the police station
the table got reversed

he came out feeling bitter he'd sacrificed
himself for Peter without compensation

He said to me one day, he was told, that
the security forces are out to get him

Now as we got up the stairs,

walking around with guns.

He start to, looking around in the
kitchen and he discovered a machete

and he came back and said to Peter:
give us the money or I chop off your head

and he went up to Peter
and raised his hand to chop off...

Marlene jumped up and jumped before him
and said, you can't chop off my man head

One of the guy, said to Peter that;
tonight you going dead there.

You could see that man, like they was
really high, boozed up or some drugs.

If you looked up, they say; put your
head down, why you look up for?

like I said I got gun butted just
trying to see what happened to Free-I

The last thing I can remember,
Peter saying to them is:

I have no money.
I really have no money in the house.

This is what I heard, OK?

I never heard any arguments about
any deals that never got payed for.

Reggae superstar Peter Tosh
and another man known as Doctor

were shot dead, at the singers Plymouth
Avenue home at about 20.30 last night

five other persons including radio JBC-dj
Free-I were shot and wounded

according to the P.I.C. three gunmen
travelling on motorcycles

went to Tosh's residence
and demanded money

Tosh and his guests were shot
when they refused, the gunmen escaped.

At the National Arena
in the capital Kingston

the Jamaican people mourn the loss,
of their Reggae superstar, Peter Tosh

It's not something that you can
ever erase out of your mind

and I thought more than this, to get over
this, is come back to this house

live in to it, and face it.

You see a friend face, you don't
see his heart, so it's like...

anything can happen.

When he was very small, him was a baby.
He always cry alot.

when them call me saying your baby cry
I said let him cry, I want him to sing.

but I never know,
he was going to be that singer.
