So you kind of get accustomed
to the travel,

but being in a group,
there are a lot of other things

So at the age of 14,

I was working
as a stock market assistant,

like charting the markets
every day.

I worked.
So I've always worked.

And now as a drag queen,

growing up in my small town.

in a small pond

You don't get that mix a lot
in Paris, Texas.

People knew who I was,
and I loved that.

I loved being like
a people person.

I wasn't really out as gay,

but I don't really think
I was ever in.

I was just me.

So everyone knew DJ was DJ,

because I was involved
in all these different things,

like, you know,
accelerated classes

and cheerleading and all that.

I was in school in what we call,
forgive me, but white world.

And so you just stood out.

I was like, oh, yeah, that's the
black kid that's in that class.

That's it.

So I learned how to like mix
with all different groups,

and it helped me, I think,
as a person, as well.

But I was everywhere.
She just--

kind of like who I am now.
